Uzana
Uzana resort is a real discovery. Right at the feet of the Ispolin
Summit at 1,420 meters above sea level. A place huddled among venerable
oak forests, known as the geographic centre of Bulgaria just 20 km
South from the town of Gabrovo. The small and modest mark that shows
the real geographic centre of Bulgaria and is a real attraction for the
tourists in this small paradise site. In the winter it is suitable for
winter sports and during the summer for mountain hiking, cycling and
horseback riding.
Uzana ski area is situated on 1,300-1,400 m above the sea level in one of the most beautiful parts of the Balkan Mountain Range (Stara Planina mountain). The site provides great opportunities for snow-sports, mountain and ecological tourism. The interest of the tourists is huge and the site is getting more and more popular. The ski season starts in the middle of December and ends in the beginning of April. The total length of the pistes in the site is 3 kilometers. The Usana site offers a professional ski piste that is 1300 meters long and is equipped with Pomagalski drag. This is actually the longest piste in the site. Part of the equipment is build with the support of the Tune town in Switzerland. The beginners can use the other 7- 8 small pistes. During the winter the visitors can also hire motor sleights and have fun in the fluffy snow. Another attraction is the kite- sport. In the future the local enterprisers plan to build a ski- run piste that will pass trough the natural park “Balgarka”.
